Terms and Conditions
All appointments are conducted by UK-registered specialist independent prescribers, working for a company registered in England.
It is your obligation to ensure that you have read, understood and agree to the most recent available Terms, which will be sent to you and updated on our website from time to time. Continued use of the Service after any changes to our Terms will be deemed as acceptance of and agreement to such Terms.
Communication with the practice:
We are not an emergency service and may be unable to respond to urgent enquiries immediately. If you are concerned and require urgent medical advice, please don't wait for our response and contact your GP, NHS 111, or, in an immediate risk of harm or emergency, 999.
Please allow us sufficient time to process any requests. We will aim to respond to your message within five working days.
If your request is complex or requires a detailed clinical discussion, we will request that you book a follow-up appointment with a clinician. Changes to treatment will not usually be handled over email or telephone and will require a follow-up appointment.
Please treat all our staff members with respect. If we feel that your behaviour towards any of our colleagues has been abusive, we may close your episode of care with our practice and not offer any further appointments.
Role and responsibility of the patient or parent/carer:
To gain the most benefit from your treatment, it is important that you work together with your healthcare provider. It is expected that you will follow these guidelines to ensure your own safety, health and well-being.
Make sure that you understand your treatment. This includes drug name/brand, dosing schedules and warning symptoms. If you do not understand any aspects of your treatment, ask the person prescribing your medication for more information
Read the patient information leaflet included with your medication.
Raise any concerns about your treatment with the person prescribing your medication.
Do not take your medication outside of your treatment plan. Any deviations can be harmful and may lead to termination of treatment.
Attend all agreed appointments. If you are unable to attend an appointment, please inform ADHD Treatments Surrey Ltd and reschedule a minimum of 48 hours in advance. If an appointment is missed or cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice, you will be charged the full cost of the appointment.
Take physical observations of blood pressure, pulse, weight and height at the frequency and interval requested by ADHD Treatments Surrey Ltd or your GP. These are imperative to ensure the safe management of ADHD with pharmacological treatments. Treatment will not be continued if these observations are not taken and submitted to ADHD Treatments Surrey Ltd when requested.
Following the transfer of care back to your GP under a shared care agreement*, you should attend tests and follow-up appointments with your GP as required.
Give permission to have aspects of your care communicated to other relevant healthcare providers.
Report any adverse effects, deterioration and response to medicines to ADHD Treatments Surrey Ltd and your GP.
Inform us of any new mental health crisis (e.g. suicide attempt) or contact with NHS mental health services, social services, police or justice department within 2 weeks. We need to have this information to ensure your care continues to be safely managed.
Notify us of any changes to your contact details (email or mobile number), as well as changes to your address and registered GP practice as soon as possible following the change.
You must always store your medication safely, out of the sight and reach of children and vulnerable adults, and in a cool, dry place. Do not let anyone else take your medication.
All medicines no longer required should be returned to any community pharmacy for destruction as soon as possible. This is a free service. ADHD Treatments Surrey Ltd will not accept any patient-returned medicines.
If you wish to record your appointment, this must be agreed with your clinician in advance.
If you have advised that you will be in touch with the service and we do not receive communication from you within four months, your current episode of care with the service will be closed. A new episode of care can be opened should you choose to contact the service after this time. We may request that you are seen as a new patient depending on the length of time that has passed since your last contact and the complexity of your care.
For the safety of everyone in the clinic, we ask that children under the age of six are not brought to any face-to-face appointments. If you have care responsibilities for children under 6 that you have to fulfil at the time of the appointment, please contact us beforehand to re-arrange or change the meeting type to a video call.
Do not attend face-to-face appointments if you have a fever or within 48 hours of having vomiting and/or diarrhoea. This is for the safety of our staff and patients. Please contact us as soon as you can discuss alternative options.
*If you want us to request that your GP takes over the prescribing of any medication for the management of your ADHD under a Shared Care Agreement, it is recommended that you confirm if your GP will accept this request before you book an appointment.
All appointments and services are charged as below:
Adult initial diagnostic assessment: £895
Children and adolescent initial diagnostic assessment (includes QbCheck computer performance test): £1095
Adult assessments will be held as a face-to-face appointment at our clinic in Redhill, Surrey, or via teleconference.
Child and adolescent assessments (6-17 years old) will only be held face-to-face.
This appointment will last for approximately 2 - 3 hours.
At this assessment appointment:
We will complete a detailed social, medical and mental health history. This will include difficult life experiences you may have had and a discussion about substance use if applicable.
We will discuss your family history and current living situation.
We will complete a developmental history from your early childhood.
We will complete a diagnostic interview for ADHD in young people (Young DIVA-5) for 6–17-year-olds or adults (DIVA-5) for those aged 18 years old and over.
For adult assessments, if third-party information (information provided by a parent, sibling, partner or from school reports to supplement the assessment process) is not available or conflicting or if we require further information to support the diagnostic assessment, the completion of a QbCheck computer-based performance test at home may be recommended by our clinic. This will be charged at £150 per test in addition to the assessment price. Further information about QbCheck is available on request.
We will outline an individual care plan based on the outcome of the assessment. If we need to confer with colleagues about any aspect of our assessment, there may be a delay in finalising your care plan.
You/your child may not be diagnosed following the assessment if the diagnostic criteria has not been met in the assessor's clinical opinion. The outstanding appointment fee remains payable even if a diagnosis is not made.
We will recommend where to get further information, discuss any further assessments or treatment that you might benefit from that cannot be provided by ADHD Treatments Surrey Ltd, and signpost you as appropriate.
If we make a diagnosis of ADHD and you wish to consider ADHD medication, we can discuss this at the end of the assessment appointment if you wish to do so, following the steps described in Initial assessment (starting medication) below. If your appointment time has already exceeded 3 hours before discussing ADHD medication, we will need to arrange an alternative time to discuss medication options, and this will be charged as a follow-up appointment (see below for pricing).
Following the assessment, we will write a short summary of our assessment outcome to your GP, including information about any medication started (if applicable). We will also write a detailed report, which will be emailed to you within six weeks, provided payment for the assessment has been made. You can share this with other healthcare professionals, such as your GP, at your discretion.
Initial assessment (starting medication) - if you wish to discuss ADHD treatment, as you already have an ADHD diagnosis: £350*
*If your assessment report is not recent (e.g. diagnosed as a child and seeking treatment as an adult) and does not reflect your current challenges and risks, the clinician will need more time for your starting medication appointment to formulate an appropriate treatment plan for you. There may be other situations where we feel that more time will be needed for the first consultation. The cost of your initial appointment will therefore be £475.
Face-to-face appointment at our clinic in Redhill, Surrey, or via teleconference. In some circumstances, we may insist on a face-to-face appointment for the first review.
Your appointment will last for approximately 60 minutes (90 minutes for patients whose reports are not recent).
At this appointment:
We will discuss your social, medical and mental health history. This will include difficult life experiences you may have had and a discussion about substance use, if applicable. We will discuss your family history and current living situation.
We will recommend where to get further information, discuss any further assessments or treatment that you might benefit from that cannot be provided by ADHD Treatments Surrey Ltd and signpost you as appropriate.
We will discuss the different treatment options available for ADHD, and you will be provided with written information about these treatments. Information about ADHD and the medication options can be accessed at any time here.
We will agree on the outcome that you wish to achieve by taking medication for ADHD and any concerns that you might have about starting treatment.
We will review your cardiovascular, medical and medication history, which is requested when you register with us.
We will check your height, weight, blood pressure, and pulse rate before starting medication. When you attend a face-to-face appointment, we may complete a cardiac auscultation.
We will discuss the process for starting medication privately. More information about this can be found in our Frequently Asked Questions.
If there are no contraindications to prescribing, your physical observations are within the normal range, no further investigations are required, and you consent to starting treatment privately, we will issue a prescription for ADHD medication. Note if any of the above are present and/or the clinician considers that prescribing for you will not be safe based on the information provided during the appointment, a prescription will not be issued.
If we think that we are no longer able to manage your care safely due to a presenting risk or increased clinical complexity that is beyond the scope of our clinical expertise, we will signpost you to more appropriate services, and your episode of care will be closed.
All prescriptions will be sent to a pharmacy of our choice. The pharmacy will contact you to arrange payment for your prescription and deliver it to an address of your choosing within 2-3 working days from the time they receive the prescription. If you don’t provide the required observations within 7 days of your appointment, you will be charged £25 for your prescription to be issued.
If you are happy with the outcome of the treatment and we agree that no further drug or dose changes are required, we can make a request to your GP to take over the prescribing of your ADHD medication and complete regular physical health monitoring. This is known as a Shared Care Agreement. Both you and your GP will need to agree to shared care for the GP to take over the prescribing and physical monitoring of your ADHD medication. GPs are not obliged to agree to shared care, so you are advised to confirm their position before your initial appointment.
If your GP agrees to the Shared Care Agreement, you will need to continue to be seen by an ADHD specialist every six to twelve months to continue treatment. You may decide to continue to be seen by ADHD Treatments Surrey Ltd for these specialist reviews, you can transfer to an alternative private provider, or you may want to ask your GP to be referred to your local NHS ADHD service for further follow-up.
We will contact you 2-4 weeks before your follow-up appointment is due. If you do not respond to messages requesting you to book an appointment at the relevant review interval within 2 weeks, you will be discharged from the service.
Following your appointment, we will send a short summary of our appointment to you and your GP within two to four weeks.
Re-registering with the service: £125
If you want to re-register with the service after your episode of care has been closed, you will be charged the fee above in addition to the cost of your follow-up appointment. This includes but is not limited to patients whose episode of care has been closed due to loss of contact (e.g. not attending regular reviews), decision to start medication more than 6 weeks after being assessed, or deciding to re-start ADHD medication after a treatment break.
Ad hoc prescription charge: £25 per prescription
